The biannual conference series “Green Solvents” has been established as an important international forum for the discussion of modern approaches to sustainable solution phase processes. Right from its start in the year 2002, the meeting has attracted well above 200 molecular scientists and engineers with a healthy mix of academics, industrialists and students from all over the world. With previous editions focusing on “Catalysis”, “Synthesis” and “Processes”, the 2008 edition aims at a broad evaluation and critical discussion of the current state of the art for alternative media in chemistry and chemical engineering, biotechnology, materials sciences, and related areas. The scientific programme consists of keynote lectures, oral contributions, and posters with no parallel sessions. The poster presentations form an integral part of the discussion following the successful experience of the previous meetings. Selected contributions will be considered for publication in a collective issue of the journal “Green Chemistry” after peer review.
