Scientific seminars, partnering, workshops and company presentations.
Exhibitors Seminars BioTech Forum + ScanLab Exhibitors seminars are an important supplement for the BioTech Forum ScanLab trade fair. The conference is a platform, where the exhibitors in lectures of a duration of max. 30 minutes can inform the visitors to the trade fair of the equipment they offer and display in the exhibition.
In a relatively short period BioTech Forum has proved to be a huge success and is now established as the largest and most influential Scandinavian meeting place for all aspects of the biotechnology industry. Combining a large-scale exhibition with a scientific conference format, the forum encompasses numerous industry issues. As well as dealing with pharmaceuticals and medicine, ethics, and patent topics, the event also provides access to venture capital, B2B-partnerships, science parks, biotechnology clusters and university programmes. Associated sectors including agricultural production and food, environmental technology and energy are also addressed. Representing an important European networking platform, the event brings together researchers, product developers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, investors, analysts, end-users and the media to share knowledge and ideas at various seminars, workshops, panel debates and exhibitions. When it was inaugurated in October 2000, BioTech Forum attracted 82 companies and 1000 visitors. The following year the event was staged in conjunction with med.xpo 2001 (a trade show and the Swedish Society of Medicine's Annual General Meeting) and 20,000 visitors attended - 3701 of which came solely for BioTech Forum. That same year the number of participating companies increased to 144. The Malmö event in 2002 attained new goals by incorporating the CONNECT Biomedical Partnership Forum and the Medicon Valley BioConference with 5121 visitors and 336 companies on site. 2003 BioTech Forum returned to Stockholm and the growth continued with 319 companies showcasing their capabilities to 6539 visitors. In 2004 BioTech Forum merged with ScanLab and over 350 companies and some 7400 visitors attended Bella Center in Copenhagen. ScanLab The history of Scanlab can be traced as far back as 1969 although the modern format of the event only began to take shape in 1991. Changing its name from Chemtech to Scanlab, the exhibition also changed target groups, moving its focus away from the chemical industry to concentrate on emerging business areas such as pharmaceuticals, food technology and biotech. The ongoing development of Copenhagen and the resund region into a leading European Life Science cluster (Medicon Valley) has clearly influenced the popularity of the Scanlab format. In addition to a large number of household names from the pharmaceutical industry, the region is also home to an explosion of niche start-up companies from all areas of this scientific revolution. Over the years Scanlab has developed into the most important event of its kind in Scandinavia and is now widely recognised as a primary exhibition and conference platform for companies and professionals involved in the laboratory equipment and diagnostics market. Held once every 2 years, the event regularly attracts between 8,200 and 10,500 visitors and has upwards of 140 companies exhibiting. These companies represent almost 1000 laboratory suppliers that cater not only to commercial markets but also to the university and healthcare communities.
