The foremost European meeting of livestock professionals, the SOMMET DE L'ELEVAGE in Clermont-Ferrand / Cournon is one of the main international trade shows specialising in animal production. In 2008, it is estimated that almost 1,100 exhibitors and 77,000 professional visitors, including 2,000 from abroad, will be present at the exhibition. After Brazil, Mexico, Poland and China, Romania will be the guest of honour at the 17th edition of the show. Located at the heart of the Massif Central, in the largest beef cattle breeding region in Europe, the SOMMET is a business forum primarily devoted to showing animals. In 2008, more than 1,800 animals of high genetic value will be presented at the show (24 French and European cattle breeds, 27 sheep breeds, 16 horse breeds, etc.). The Aubrac beef breed (400 animals on show) and the Charollais sheep breed will organise their national competition at the SOMMET DE L'ELEVAGE.
