Ireland’s largest Agricultural Show. The success story of the Balmoral Show just keeps going.  3 days of glorious sunshine, bar a brief rain fall on Friday morning which still didn’t keep the crowds away! The spectacular cattle parade provided visitors with the chance to see these animals up close and truly appreciate their stature and beauty.
Top Irish and GB riders were attracted by the prestigious Show Jumping schedule. GB number one Nick Skelton and top Irish riders including Conor Swail and Edward Little were among the riders who took part in the International Classes. The grand finale to the Show Jumping schedule is the Vodafone Grand Prix, where Paul Barker and Blue Chip Quinton walked away with the prestigious Grand Prix title.
The Kangaroo Kid was back at Balmoral for what could be his last time ever. As usual he wooed and entertained the crowds with his wheelies, stunts and 100ft jump over a number of 4x4 jeeps. The Australian dare devil has a unique style of banter, which on hearing his voice, saw crowds running to see him in action.
The Northern Woman Best Dressed Competition proved extremely popular this year and with a holiday for two to Barbados up for grabs, it wasn’t hard to see why. Sasha Stewart from Richhill, Armagh was awarded the overall winner of the competition and will be off to Barbados in the not to distance future. Greg Smith, originally from New Zealand but a resident of Richhill, Armagh won the Best Dressed Male and Margaret Cummins from Lisburn won the Best Dressed Female.
Around the Showgrounds there was lots more to keep the crowds entertained, including Dog Agility competitions, the Garden Village, Children’s Farm, Circus Entertainers and the Band Stand where a variety of bands kept foots a tapping.
