TEXTILMODA CLOSED ITS TENTH EDITION WITH SOME EXCELLENT RESULTS.

• The show received 2,413 national and foreign professional visitors.

• Regarding visitors´ origin, on a national scale, we might highlight the increase in buyers from Andalusia and Aragon.

• The next edition of TEXTILMODA will be held later: between 27th and 29th September, at Feria de Madrid.

The tenth edition of TEXTILMODA, staged between 27th February and 1st March at Feria de Madrid, closed its doors with some excellent results and featured the attendance of 2,413 trade visitors. During these three days, the exhibitors stated having fulfilled their commercial targets and a continuous activity was observed on the stands, lasting until closing time every day. Once more, TEXTILMODA provided an important indication of the new trends in textiles and adornments that are likely to emerge, a full year in advance.

As regards the origin of the visitors, on a national scale, we might highlight the increase in buyers from Andalusia and Aragon. On the other hand, there was a drop in visitors from Madrid and Catalonia, as with Portuguese buyers, although visitors from the European Union still come in large numbers.

167 companies took part in the show, of which 53 percent were foreign companies - 5% more than at the last edition. This information strengthens TEXTILMODA´s role as one of the reference points for the European textile sector. Therefore, along with the Spanish participating companies, the show also included top-level firms from Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Forecasts for the Year 2006.

It is very difficult to establish forecasts for the evolution of the textile sector for the next few months. This is based on the fact that this industry continues to adapt itself to the new circumstances that appeared in 2005. The trade balance figures for the textile industry remain positive, in spite of the generally adverse developments that have taken place with regard to the textile trade figures in Spain.

´Spanish textile companies are searching for a new business model, which is leading them to take a number of different risks,´ states Salvador Maluquer, the General Secretary of the Spanish Inter-Textile Board (CIE). ´However, in spite of the problems the sector is currently suffering, Spain is an excellent supplier in terms of quality and design. Our textiles are highly regarded among the developed countries of Mediterranean Europe,´ Mr. Maluquer adds.

Throughout the year 2005, Spanish textile exports generated a turnover of around 2,067 million euros, featuring a decrease of less than 4%. For their part, imports presented a value of 2,000 million euros, based on a decrease of 4%, according to figures furnished by the Textile and Clothes Manufacturing Information Centre (CITYC).

Success of the Trend Forum.

TEXTILMODA presented the textile and adornment collections for Spring/Summer 2007. Spring-Summer 2007 will present a bright and vivid image, in the form of dresses and tunics, clothing items that are destined to play a leading role. As far as colours are concerned, sky blue will reign supreme, alongside light green, orange, brown, pink and the ever-popular white. All trends will seek to achieve a subtle and causal form of elegance, devoid of ostentation.

One of the main attractions of TEXTILMODA was the Trends Forum, which was highly successful at this edition due to the clarity used to display all the topics. This showcase exhibited more than 1,000 real samples of textiles and adornments presented by the exhibiting companies, both from Spain and abroad, organised in collaboration with the style studio, Nelly Rodi. This area also housed the Last Minute Space, where the latest samples created by the exhibitors the days immediately before the Fair, were on display.

Furthermore, TEXTILMODA published a Trends Book for the new season, also produced with the collaboration of Nelly Rodi, which was on sale throughout the duration of the fair. This publication enables professionals to complete their information regarding the collections that are brought together at the Trends Forum.

Looking towards the next edition, TEXTILMODA has decided to put back its dates, following suggestions made by a large number of exhibitors and the Organizing Committee. In this way, the show will be held between 27th and 29th September - coinciding with two days of SIPIEL, the International Leather Week - and in the weeks following Premiere Vision. In doing so, TEXTILMODA hopes to increase the number of visitors from the clothing manufacturing industry in Spain, Portugal and nearby markets.
