Düsseldorf/Berlin. Düsseldorf will be the new location for IMA 2007. This was decided by the majority of the VDAI members (German coin-operated machine industry association) at their general meeting in Berlin. The IMA will therefore now be held for the first time in the Rhine city from 16 to 18 January. The venue for the IMA will be the newly constructed Hall 8 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.
A key factor behind the decision to change from Nuremberg to Düsseldorf was the machine owners' desire to hold the IMA in North Rhine-Westphalia in the future: "With its 17 million inhabitants, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most populous state and, above all, it is the region with the highest density of amusement and vending machine companies," is how VDAI Managing Director Dr. Jürgen Bornecke summed up the result which was decided by the VDAI general meeting on the basis of an industry survey.
In this poll, 68 percent of the responses received were in favour of North Rhine-Westphalia. Of these, over half (54.4 %) were for Düsseldorf. The organisers, the VDAI and Reed Exhibitions, pointed out that it was not an easy decision, as the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre - where the IMA has been held since 2000 - had proved to be "an excellent trade fair partner and host".
Attracting 6,500 trade visitors from 24 countries, and 140 exhibiting companies from 17 countries, the IMA is one of the leading trade fairs in the world for amusement and vending machines.
