| Description: | In the middle of Europe’s Alpine arc lies Bolzano Fair, the ideal
platform for contacts between the business communities of the
German-speaking countries and Italy. Bolzano has a long tradition as a commercial centre. The annual markets that can be traced back as far as 1202 were given the right to hold an autonomous commercial and mercantile court in 1635. With the growing signifi cance of the Brenner route for cross-border traffi c movements, Bolzano became increasingly important as a centre of trade. The South Tyrolean city has a catchment of some 4 million inhabitants from the economically vibrant north of Italy and the Alpine countries of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. South Tyrol has one of the densest networks of import-expert wholesale businesses in the whole of Europe. |
